Cool iPhone stand - or Xtand
Tuesday, November 11, 2008, 07:30 AM - PDAs

Just Mobile has released a new stand for the iPhone.

I picked mine at Fry's last week and I have to admit its a lot better than the Apple iPhone stand/charger.

Becasue my iPhone is my primary phone for work, I wanted something that would let me use my iPhone while I sat my desk with the bluetooth headset and the Apple stand charger did not offer enough support to type the phone # and dial while it was in the charger.

The Xtand is large enough to hold my phone in its Vaja Case so I don't have to slide it in and out. And its an added bonus that the new Xtand looks like a miniMac.

Full review and unboxing on the Xtand can be found at PocketNow

Iphone's software updates
Tuesday, September 16, 2008, 04:51 AM - PDAs

Earlier this week, Apple released a software OS udpate for the iPhone.

This latest version is welcome indeed - it has fixed issues with my POP3 email account and some other minor bugs (I sure wish Apple would be forthcoming with issues like this - my email worked before version 2.02, then stopped working - spent hours with tech support at my ISP, only to get it to work infrequently- only to find out its not my issue at all).

The other big change?

The cursed 15 to 60 minute "backup" of the iphone is reduced if not eliminated - as far as I can tell - Apple was actually uploading all 16 gigs of my iPhone to their server.

Apple, I love your products, but I hate how you protect me from knowing what the H-E-L-L is going on.

iPhone updates - the software might be better than the hardware?
Monday, July 14, 2008, 04:43 PM - PDAs
You'd have to be living under a rock for the last couple of weeks to have missed the fact that Apple released its 2nd version of the iPhone (dubbed 3G for the network it runs on).

What hasn't received a lot of hype is the upgrad made to the older generation of iPhone (as well as the new).

Version 2.0 of the iPhone OS is a major improvement, and unlike Microsoft who continues to add complexity to every new layer of OS (have you tried to change your screen resolution in Vista? its like 3 extra steps from XP)

Take for example the update to the iPhone's email software - deleting emails used to be a fingerswipe-confirm or edit (then turn the knob, confirm) 2 to 3 step process.

GONE! - now its a check box and a mass delete - much improved -thank you Apple!

iPhone tip for websites
Saturday, January 19, 2008, 05:57 PM - PDAs
If your website is visited by iPhone users, you might want to add a bit of code (or a file) to your website to control the look of the logo that is placed on the iPhon users Home Screen.

Click here for a how to do.
